Quella appena passata è stata una settimana di catture, ma anche di ricatture.
Infatti, ci è venuta a trovare una Sterpazzola che già era stata inanellata proprio presso la nostra stazione nel 2015, ben 3 anni fa!
Le sue condizioni erano buone: si trattava di una femmina, con grasso 2 (Scala di Kaiser da 0 a 8) e muscolo 2 (su una scala da 0 a 3), secondo le categorie di riferimento convenzionali.
Come età le è stato assegnato un codice 6, il che significa che è nata sicuramente prima dell'anno precedente, ma non è possibile definire con precisione l'anno di nascita.

In fact, a Whitethroat that was ringed exactly here in Ponza in 2015, came to visit us again!
She was in a good shape: a female, with a fat score of 2 (Kaiser classification from 0 to 8) and pectoral muscle score of 2 (on a range from 0 to 3), according to the international conventional schemes.
As age class she was identified as a 6th class, which means that she hatched before last calendar year, but the exact year is unknown (eg many adults in Spring).

L'Unione Europea per l'Inanellamento degli Uccelli (EURING) coordina le attività di inanellamento a livello dell'intero continente Europeo e gestisce la Banca Dati EURING (EDB) per agevolare le analisi su larga scala di movimenti e aspetti demografici. L'EDB contiene più di 10 milioni di dati, che sono consultabili tramite il sito dell'EDB Index.
EURING richiede un pagamento per fornire i dati di interesse, di modo da compensare in parte i costi della gestione del database.
How could we be so sure that that Whitethroat was originally caught in 2015?

The European Union for Bird Ringing (EURING) coordinates bird ringing at a continental scale and operates the EURING Data Bank (EDB) to facilitate large-scale analyses of movements and demography. The EDB contains over 10 million individual encounter records which are summarised on a publicly available website, the EDB Index.
EURING make modest charges for supplying data from the EDB in order to offset some of the costs of running the databank.
Quando un inanellatore ricattura un uccello già inanellato, deve comunicare all'organizzazione responsabile a livello nazionale le informazioni principali sull'individuo in questione (i.e. Anello, Specie, Dati dell'inanellatore, Data, Luogo di ritrovamento, Condizioni e Circostanze del ritrovamento).

Quando un uccello già inanellato viene ricatturato o ritrovato morto, l'inanellatore che vi ha messo l'anello viene aggiornato con le informazioni sopra dette.
Once a ringer captures again an already ringed bird, he or she should communicate to the National Organisation in charge of the ringing activities coordination the main information about the specimen (i.e. Ring number, Species, Ringer's info, Date, Place of the finding, Conditions and Situation at the time of the finding).
