Noi di CISCA manteniamo le promesse: avevamo promesso ai nostri volontari che martedì sarebbe arrivato il maltempo e che quindi il lunedì sera avremmo accolto molti pettirossi alle nostre reti….e così è stato!
Nel turno serale tutti sono stati impegnati alle reti per catturare 322 uccelli, praticamente tutti pettirossi. Grazie a questa quantità di pettirossi, nella giornata di ieri abbiamo raggiunto un totale di 564 uccelli. Questa mattina abbiamo cominciato a inanellare e rilasciare i catturati di sera sul fare del giorno (intorno alle 5) e siamo riusciti a smaltire tutti gli inanellati solo alle 7.30 del mattino.
At CISCA we keep the promises: we said to our volunteers that on Tuesday a storm would have reached the island and that it was very likely to have a big wave of birds arriving on Monday evening….and all this actually happened!
During the evening net-round everyone has been very busy at the nets catching 322 birds, mostly robins. Thanks to this amount of lately arrived birds, we totalised 564 ringed birds yesterday. This morning we started ringing and releasing the birds caught last night at the very beginning of the dawn (at around 5 am) and we managed to ring all of them at 7.30.
Fra le catture anche un pettirosso già inanellato in Slovenia! Le ricatture sono per noi un dato importante, perché ci concede di avere maggiori dettagli sulle rotte migratorie e gli spostamenti delle specie ornitiche.
Among the caught birds there was a robin already wearing a ring from Slovenia! Retraps are for us very important, since they give us more details about the migration routes and the movements of birds.
Intorno alle 9 questa mattina sono cominciate le prime raffiche di vento e ora la temperatura è scesa di qualche grado, il cielo si è coperto e il mare sin increspa…abbiamo già dovuto chiudere le reti più esposte al vento, ma prevediamo di chiudere tutto dopo pranzo, poiché il vento dovrebbe aumentare di intensità.
At around 9 am some gusts of wind started, and progressively, the temperature decreased, the sky became cloudy and the sea started to ripple…we, therefore, closed the nets which were too exposed, but we think we are going to close of all them after lunch, since the wind will be more and more intense.
