Il weekend non è stato poi così indaffarato come temevamo: il passaggio non è cospicuo, forse perchè si stanno susseguendo delle perturbazioni. In questi casi gli uccelli potrebbero attendere il momento propizio per tentare la traversata oppure, addiritttura, tentare percorsi alternativi, più sicuri.
Sabato abbiamo inanellato circa 120 uccelli, mentre domenica il totale è sceso a circa un centinaio di uccelli.
Già dalle 19.30 di domenica abbiamo dovuto chiudere le reti, poichè il vento si era fatto troppo intenso per permetterci di lavorare. Lunedì in mattinata abbiamo tentato di sfruttare una finestra di calma di vento durata solo 3 ore, ma abbiamo dovuto presto ritornare sui nostri passi e richiudere per il forte vento.
The weekend was not as busy as we feared: the passage of birds is not so abundant, perhaps because many bad weather fronts are occurring. In these cases the birds could wait for the right moment to attempt the crossing or, even, they can try alternative safer routes. On Saturday we ringed about 120 birds, while on Sunday the total dropped to about a hundred birds. As early as 7.30pm on Sunday we had to close our nets, as the wind had become too intense to allow us to work. On Monday in the morning we tried to take advantage of a moment of calm wind that lasted only 3 hours. We soon had to close the nets because of the strong wind again.
Stamattina abbiamo riaperto le reti, ma fino ad ora abbiamo inanellato solo 15 uccelli. Le condizioni meteo ancora non sono fra le più favorevoli: infatti, sebbene il vento si sia calmato, aspettiamo molta pioggia per domani e i prossimi giorni.
This morning we reopened the nets, but so far we've only ringed 15 birds. The weather conditions are still not the most favorable: in fact, although the wind has calmed down, we expect a lot of rain for tomorrow and the next few days.
